There are moments in life that quietly shape who we become, moments that seem small at the time, but leave a lasting imprint. For me, that moment happened in a tiny northern community called Gowganda, long before I ever imagined a life built around travel.
As a young adult, I spent spring to fall in Northern Ontario, surrounded by untouched wilderness, endless skies, and the kind of stillness you only find far from city life. Days were simple. Time slowed down. And nature became the entertainment, the teacher, and the storyteller.
I remember watching the gradual shift from winter into spring, the snow softening, the air warming, the lake slowly waking up again. And then one day, something extraordinary happened.
The dragonflies arrived.
Not just a few drifting by, but thousands. The lake was suddenly alive with them, hovering, gliding, shimmering in the light. It felt almost magical, like the world had transformed overnight. I stood there, completely still, taking it all in. I didn’t have the words for it then, but I felt it deeply, a sense of wonder, curiosity, and awe.
That was my dragonfly moment.
Looking back now, I realize that moment planted something inside me. It sparked a desire to explore, to see more, to chase that feeling again—the feeling of witnessing something beautiful and unexpected in a place far from home.
Over the years, that small spark grew into a lifelong passion. I’ve been fortunate to travel extensively, experiencing different cultures, landscapes, and moments that take your breath away. And while each destination is unique, I often find myself reflecting back to that lake in Gowganda, the place where it all began.
Travel, to me, isn’t just about checking destinations off a list. It’s about those moments. The ones that stop you in your tracks. The ones that stay with you long after you’ve returned home.
Today, I feel incredibly privileged to help others create those same experiences.
Whether it’s a first trip to somewhere new, a long-awaited escape, or a journey that reconnects you with yourself or your loved ones, I believe everyone deserves their own version of a dragonfly moment, that instant where the world opens up and something inside you shifts.
Because sometimes, all it takes is one moment…
One place…
One unexpected kind of beauty…
To change the way you see the world, and your place in it.
